About Collette – A legacy in mixing & granulation technology
Founded in Antwerp in 1892, Collette NV began as a manufacturer of mixers and kneaders for the baking industry. Over the decades, its product range expanded to serve new industries, and by the early 1950s, Collette had entered the pharmaceutical sector, where it would go on to make a lasting impact.
A major technological breakthrough came in 1975 with the launch of the first High Shear Mixer Granulator (GRAL), which quickly became a benchmark for efficient and consistent granulation in the pharmaceutical industry. Building on this success, Collette introduced the Single Pot concept in 1980 with the TOPO design and the GRAL-Processor, providing an integrated solution for mixing, granulation, and drying.
To further support innovation, Collette opened the Process Development Center (PDC) shortly after, giving customers a dedicated test lab to explore new technologies and optimise their formulations. In 1990, the company made another ground-breaking advancement by introducing the Vactron, one of the first machines to promote microwave drying for pharmaceutical applications.
